University Hospital, currently operating 498 beds, is the lead trauma center for Bexar County, and all of South Texas.  As one of just 13 Level I trauma centers in the entire state of Texas, University Hospital is staffed around the clock with UT Health Science Center trauma surgeons, as well as residents and faculty physicians representing every trauma-related surgical specialty. University Health System nurses and technicians with advanced training are important members of this specialized trauma team that provides immediate care to seriously injured patients.

University Health System’s Pharmacy Offers:

·     8 nights on 6 nights off

·     Generous shift and weekend differential

·     10 pm – 8:30 am

Position Summary

Clinical Pharmacist will provide clinical and distributive services for Neonatal through Adult patients in accordance with JCAHO, OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid standards and Texas State Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations.   Dispenses and labels drugs or devices, selects drugs and reviews drug utilization, stores prescription drugs and devices and maintains drug records in a pharmacy.  Advises or consults when necessary or required by law about therapeutic value, content, hazard, or use of drugs and devices, or offering or performing the services and transactions necessary to operate a pharmacy.  Implements decisions set forth by the P&T Committee as written in the Hospital Formulary and complies with Health System policies and procedures with regard to the dispensing, maintaining and storing of drugs. 

Qualifications Required

Pharmacy licensure in the State of Texas is required.  Two years experience in a hospital pharmacy preferred.
