Full Professor Drug Design University of Groningen | Groningen Netherlands
The Groningen Research Institute of Pharmacy (GRIP) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a vacancy for a Full Professor in Drug Design (tenured position).
The candidate is expected to establish a strong, externally funded research programme, focussed on drug design, by bridging (medicinal) chemistry, biology, bioinformatics and medicine.
He/she will attract funding for new projects and build up a leading international position in the field. He/she is an excellent supervisor and teacher who can motivate students of different disciplines and he/she will be able to develop new courses on specific topics in the BSc and MSc programmes of the Faculty. Teaching duties include the supervision of research projects of bachelor-, master- and PhD students. He/she will participate in the organization and management of the Institute.
The Full Professor in Drug Design will be given the opportunity to establish a new research group, with a tenure track Assistant Professor, a postdoc, a technician and PhD student(s).

Requirements
The candidate should have expertise in medicinal chemistry, preferably with a background in organic chemistry. Knowledge of molecular pharmacology and (structural) biology is considered an advantage. He/she has an outstanding track record and is internationally recognized, with publications in leading journals. He/she has excellent organizational and teaching skills, is fluent in English and has a good knowledge of Dutch – or is willing to learn this language within a timeframe of two years. Experience in the acquisition of research funds is required.
Conditions of employment
The University of Groningen offers a salary dependent on qualifications and work experience up to a maximum of ? 7,142 (CAO-NU Full Professor 2) gross per month for a full-time position.
